yip , yip and yip .... appalling state of affairs and in reality ! NZ is essentially owned ( largely at least )and dictated to by the mega corperations and the good ol US , like many countries more and more , & since the 80's on as we know ! It's gonna take some gusty and radical politicians to pull us back from those corrupt greedy control freaks ,and start propagating proper sovereignty here ! I don't see any one capable in this lot ! Plus MMP makes things more difficult in many regards IMO !

MMP gives us the option of change, but it gives the resource rich / special interests leverage too. The devil and the deep blue sea. FPP failed us first. We all need up actually participate in our nations life as citizens. Consumerism is failing us

Yes, I agree, we need to get involved rather than sit back allowing others to dictate to us. I have been wondering if, given the general discontent with our current govt, we might see another political party appear. I was not surprised to see just last week, TOP, who have been around for a while, vigorously promoting the idea of citizen's assemblies on Facebook. I am aware such assemblies function in a number of other countries and I believe there are a couple in NZ too - not specifically associated with TOP. Initiate by a local Maori leader, a Citizens' assembly has been functioning in Porirua for about two years. Representatives from each of the cultural/interest/age groups who make up that entire community meet regularly to discuss issues, listen to experts and put forward mutually agreed upon proposals to the local Council. I gather it is working well. Maybe it would work on a larger scale too. I know some would argue such could potentially be subject to control by interest groups, but are we not currently under the influence of a specific interest group anyway? I would be prepared to give citizens' assemblies a try.

Nzgivt is NWO. The whole empire was signed over to the NWO plan in 1930s.TECHNOCRACY CULTIST DOCTRINE. Every single mp, judge and policeman plus every single freemason for the past 100 years is now FULLY EXPOSED as the hidden hand of the one world order. Satanic covert grooming over a 100 year period to herd humanity into their corporate prison.

That sort of response is the problem with trying to get your valid message over as more than conspiracy theory nonsense, easily sidelined.

Did ypu get my memes? Here is the announcement to the satanic freemasons regarding the finalisation of the NWO agreement. The date is significant. It is written secretively but the message is clear.

Hi. The message there seems to be that real estate bubbles and private credit are problematic.

Yes, Liz, Citizen's Assemblies would be worth a try. We have to do something else.

Interest groups? It's the big-money interest groups that worry me. Our poor are meanwhile being pushed down into immiseration. It's not a society we can be proud of.

Yes, pitchforks and walking sticks even - whatever implements you have to hand. Change is coming anyway - perhaps we the people need to take charge of it.

Most of us are able to see the glaring inadequacies of government after government; the lack of investment in productive industries, the wind-back of health and education, the asset-stripping, privatisation and off-shoring of profits, the decline in productivity, the reliance on housing as wealth. Present pitchforks people.

Excellent post Tadhg. It's getting to the solutionn to this mess that creates the biggest problem in removing the greedy hands from Lollie Jar thats gonna be difficult if this Regulations Abortion Bill is allowed to proceed to law.

The Court of International Settlements are rubbing their greedy mits together for the chancee to weaponise their illgotten profits against us if we cut them in on our once good thing that we want back.

Too bad we can't go back in history and stop this mess before it got started and supercharged by Ruth Richardson & Genny Shipely. I don't think we can expect the Greedies to give up their stolen enterprises willingly, so it's moving more toward the People with pitchforks method, if we can find someone with the Perserverance & Prudence to see it through, leading the Charge.

It appears that the only ones currenting "trying to rearrange the Deck Chairs on the Titanic" are Chloe, Marama & the Greens. Though they aren't willing, or able to tear down the Neoliberal Walls of the current system without a solid partner acting as a backstop.

Labour showed their cards back in 2017 when they chose to stick with the TPPA, they were initially opposed to and fiddle around the edges in saying they were into Wellbeing, when they actually weren't willing to make the changes necessary to actually do it!

Maybe Labour can come around, but at this point I don't see them changing to accommodate the changes we need... Kieran McAnulty might be a key, but not in his current position in the Party... They're gonna need a creative Finance person and a whole new Treasury to guide them thru the changes on the current slate that need re-doing...

Britain & King Chuck aren't going to be cooperative at all in allowing us to clip our Umbilical Chord from the Crown Enterprises holding us to ransom for QEII's Real Estate Empire, It may take us to a Iceland style revolution to kick out the Bankers and bring us back to more Egalitarian times, so our Taxes actually go toward paying for what we need as far as our Domestic Economy goes & then borrowing from the RBNZ for our larger needs, or putting the Big Ticket investments out for Bond issues, so that the public get some return from their investments??

If we can get the greedies convinced to actually pay their Tax Obligations and make sure to get Google, Facebook, Uber, Food Duopoly and the other usurpers of our public wealth to start paying we'll be in a better position with a new Government for our Soverighn exercise we might actually come out of this mess in much better shape than we currently are under this Public, Neoliberal Clusterfk!.

Thanks for pointing out the Historical Factors, as I think either people forgot about how all this happened when it did, or weren't old enough or educated well enough to have known about the damage that Reagan, Thatcher & the US Oligarchs pulled off when they attempted to break up the USSR...

Putin doesn't get the credit he deserves in how he got rid of the US & Homespun Oligarchies with their hands in Russia's Cookie Jar... Maybe we need a Kind Hearted Authoritarian style leader that doesn't take this Neolib BS lightly to oversee our renentry into an Egalitarian / Sovereign position on the stage.

Maybe somebody that isn't an Alcoholic like Muldoon was, with the Clarity of purpose like a John Adams to move us along to the next peg on the world ladder without the Baggage of the Crown Oligarchy and Uncle Sam's greedy Fingers in our Pie.

Maybe we should consider BRICS & a more Socialistic approach to start us off on our new adventure? One thing for certain is we need some Radical Changes to occur to dig us out of this current mess! We can't afford to do nothing and wait until the Neoliberal System collapses in on itself!

The present system is actually working as it has been designed to. Moving capital from the workers and the nation to the ones that already have more than they need.

The system and the values behind it need to change.

... "Norway turned oil into a $1.7 trillion sovereign wealth fund." — yeah, and for no good reason.

A sovereign fund for a monopoly issuer of a fiat currency is a complete waste of administrative endeavour. What is it supposed to do, "fight inflation"?🤣

What drives output that TODAY's retirees can enjoy is the work of TODAY's workers, not tomorrows. So, if they insist they need some excuse to mark-up bank accounts with a computer, then Norway should distribute every last scorepoint of that "fund" to the poor, but in return for getting public good work accomplished, like...???? doh! I'm so lame that I have no phreakin' clue what good people could do!!! 🤣 Oh, how about looking after the elderly? "Yeah, that's all these lazy no good "workers" are good for."

Apologies for the dripping sarcasm.
